시간과 상
기준 시점과 행동이 사실·진행·결과·지속 중 무엇인지 확인하세요. simple은 사실, continuous는 진행, perfect는 시간의 연결, perfect continuous는 지속 시간을 강조합니다.
현재·과거·미래 시제
present simple: "I study English every weekday." present continuous: "I am reviewing verb tenses now." present perfect: "I have studied English since January." past simple은 끝난 과거, past continuous는 과거에 진행 중이던 행동입니다.

미래 표현
"will"은 즉석 결정·약속·의견 기반 예측에, "going to"는 계획이나 현재 증거에 씁니다. "I will help you." / "I am going to study tonight."

흔한 실수
현재 행동은 "I am studying now.", 지속 상황은 "I have lived here since January.", 끝난 시간은 "I visited the museum yesterday."라고 합니다.

과거 동사 시제
past simple은 끝난 과거 사건, past continuous는 과거 특정 시점에 진행 중이던 행동을 나타냅니다. past perfect는 두 과거 사건의 선후를 밝히고, past perfect continuous는 과거 기준점까지의 지속 시간을 강조합니다.
- "I studied last night."
- "She moved to Los Angeles in 2025."
- "We gave a presentation on Friday."
- "Did you study?"
- "I did not study."
- "was/were + verb-ing."
- "I was studying at 8:00 p.m."
- "They were speaking when the teacher entered."
- "I was walking home when it started to rain."
- "had + past participle."
- "The class had started before I arrived."
- "She had never spoken in public before that week."
- "had been + verb-ing."
- "I had been studying for two hours before I took a break."
- "They had been practicing for weeks before the presentation."
시간 표현으로 시제 선택하기
"usually"와 "every day"는 습관, "now"는 진행, "yesterday"는 끝난 과거, "since"와 "for"는 지속을 암시합니다. 그러나 최종 시제는 화자가 그 기간을 끝난 것으로 보는지 현재와 연결된 것으로 보는지에 따라 달라집니다.
- "I lived in Los Angeles for two years."
- "I have lived in Los Angeles for two years."
