Best Weekend Getaways

California has many great places to visit for the weekend

Weekend trips are a fun way to explore California and nearby popular destinations. Living in Los Angeles is fun, but it’s always nice to get away for the weekend and try some new adventures.

San Francisco

San Francisco is a fun place to getaway for the weekend. The Golden Gate Bridge and Park, Lombard Street, Fisherman’s Wharf, Union Square, and Chinatown are all famous places in San Francisco. San Francisco is similar to Los Angeles in culture. San Francisco is older than Los Angeles and is also a very interesting city to explore. San Francisco is about a 6-hour drive or 2 hour flight from Los Angeles. Road trips can be fun and many Angelinos make the drive to San Francisco on weekends for something new and something fun for the weekend. Make sure to check out Fisherman’s Wharf and try the clam chowder and seafood! If you’re interested in renting a car for the weekend, it’s quite cheap and is a great American experience while you’re studying ESL in Los Angeles. San Diego

Summer is coming and San Diego is a great place to experience the great California beach weather. San Diego is known for its beautiful beaches and the awesome weather. The weather in San Diego is nicer than Los Angeles, and the temperatures are more mild than the really, really hot LA summer heat. Definitely check out the Gas lamp District in San Diego. It’s an area full of restaurants, pubs, shops, and even a baseball stadium for the San Diego Padres. San Diego is a 2-hour drive south of Los Angeles so it’s perfect for a short day trip. The train ( leaves from Union Station in downtown Los Angeles and takes longer to get there but also a fun way to experience the American lifestyle.

Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara is a beach city about 2 hours north of Los Angeles. Santa Barbara is a much more relaxing environment compared to LA, San Francisco, or San Diego. There’s not much to do but if you’re looking for a quiet, peaceful weekend and want to enjoy good food and shopping, Santa Barbara is a nice place to visit for the weekend.

Napa Valley

Napa Valley is known as Wine Country in California. It’s a beautiful, peaceful area north of Los Angeles. Visiting a place like Napa Valley, you would never think it’s so close to the busy city of Los Angeles. Napa Valley has many wineries and Napa Valley wines are popular all over the world. It’s a very beautiful area and great for taking pictures, getting some fresh air and having a fun weekend adventure. Check out this link for information about Napa Valley.

*Extra- Las Vegas (Nevada)

Las Vegas is not in California, but definitely a place to experience while living in LA. It’s a 4 hour drive and a popular destination especially for Angelinos. What can we say about Las Vegas?
